This is a Serbian Turbofolk Dance taught by Marija Krapcevich, the Director and Choreographer for Aska Kolo Ansambl, at Social Dances of the World Explore Serbia! Workshop on May 27, 2007.
Turbofolk dances are dances done to the popular Turbofolk music. This is the kolo done by the Serbs in Sacramento to most of the Turbofolk songs. Currently, it is the kolo done more often than U Sest. It has no distinguishing name in the Serbian community, so Marija named it Brza Loza (Fast Grapevine) after the main step.
Dance is in 2/4 or 4/4 time. Tempo is moderate to fast with a bouncy flair. Open circle formation. Hands up in W-hold, where they bounce, too. The dance has only one pattern. The basic step is a fast leaping grapevine followed by two Charleston step touches. The weight is on the balls of the feet. R=right foot, L=left foot, CW=clockwise.
