Gori More (Burning Sea)

Serbia

This is a Serbian Turbofolk Dance taught by Marija Krapcevich, the Director and Choreographer for Aska Kolo Ansambl, at Social Dances of the World Explore Serbia! Workshop on May 27, 2007.

Turbofolk dances are dances done to the popular Turbofolk music. Gori More is done to the tune Gori More. The song is about a man who sees a beautiful woman and the sea seems to be on fire and the hills seem to melt.

Dance is in 4/4 time. Tempo is moderately relaxed. Open circle formation. Hands down in V-hold. The dance has only one long pattern made up of four four-count steps. The basic step is "walk, walk, walk, hop" with a turn on the hop. The hop is a low hop: toes remain on floor while opposite foot rises (with an optional shake or slight kick) to about the height of mid-shin. R=right foot, L=left foot, LOD=line of direction, RLOD=reverse line of direction,  CW=clockwise, CCW=counterclockwise.
