Hora Schiopa - Romania

This Romania hora was originally taught by Sonia Dion and Cristian Florescu.

It can be done to any four count hora music. They taught it to the hora in Plaiuri Besarabene an instrumental piece on their CD#2.

Formation

Hands joined in a W position in a circle.

Introduction

The Dance starts with a 24 count introduction, walking to the right starting right foot. It is easiest to count as three 8 counts. On the last count turn to face center.

Pattern 1 Basic hora with replacement stamps

Facing the center of the circle do one basic hora step in.

1. step right forward (Count 1), Step left forward ( Count 2), Step right forward (count 3), touch left forward (count 4)

do one basic hora back replacing the touch with two stamps (count 8 &)

2. Step left Back (c 5), Step right Back (c6), Step lift back (c7).  stamp right beside left toes pointing left (20degrees)(c8) stamp right beside left toes pointing right (20 degrees)

Pattern 2 Grapevine Hora

Facing center moving to left to start.

Step right across in front of left (c1), step left to the side (c2),  Step right behind left turning body a little towards the right (c3) touch left across right (c4)

Facing center moving to the right.

Step left across in front of right (c5), step right to the side(c6), Step left behind, (c7). stamp right beside left toes pointing left (20degrees)(c8) stamp right beside left toes pointing right (20 degrees)

Repeat Pattern 2

Pattern 3 six count reda with scuff stamp step.

Facing center enter step, moving to left to start.

Step right across in front of left (c1), step left to the side (c2), step right across in front of left (c3), step left to the side (c4), Step right across in front of left (c5), step left to the side (c6), Standing on left scuff right across in front of left, body facing right (45 degrees) when done with right leg up bent at the knee (c 7), turn to face center stamp right foot  to the right of  left, (c 8), hard step on to right (c&).

Repeat the above opposite footwork and direction.

Repeat Pattern 3.

Repeat patterns 1-3 two times.

To keep the footwork on the melody,  it is necessary to add two steps (right then left) toward the center on the end of  the second repeat of Pattern 3, the first and third time through the dance.
